JROTC Instructor:

 

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

To provide instruction in leadership and self-discipline for students that enables them to learn to the maximum of their ability.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a US Army retired SSG(E6) to CSM (E9) or WO1 to CW5
  • Must have an Associate Degree, three semester hours in Educational or Adolescent Psychology and three semester hours in Teaching Methods and Materials from an accredited institution
  • Retired less than 3 years from the effective date of employment
  • Must meet Army JROTC height/weight/body fat standards, high standards of military bearing, appearance and moral character
  • Must have initial JROTC certification from Army Cadet Command
  • Honorably retired Noncommission or Warrant Officer with a minimum of 20 years of active-duty service
  • Instructor experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to manually lift, move, or carry minimum of 35 pounds

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Provide leadership for JROTC staff and for the entire JROTC program.

Serve as role model for all students

Establish and execute the overall management of the program

Teach classes

Monitor program's budget, supply, cadet records, grading, testing, and awards

Assist with summer organization and camp experiences for the unit

Attend/assist with school events

Attend/assist with community activities and social events related to or showcasing JROTC

Supervise and carry out after school, weekend, and summer outings with Cadets

Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed while upholding and enforcing Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including but not limited to:

Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs

Acceptable Use of Technology

Sexual and Racial Harassment

Child Abuse Reporting

Serve as liaison between Army and the civilian community by representing both Army and Avery County Schools

Perform other duties as required to effectively carry out the JROTC program and the mission of the school

All JROTC instructors are responsible to the U.S. Army Cadet Command to follow Army regulations.

To maintain performance standards of the ACHS JROTC at the highest level possible to ensure a national recognized program exists.

Maintain accountability of all equipment IAW AR 710-2, including items requiring formal accountability (i.e., air rifles), informal accountability (i.e., clothing) and durable items costing $5,000 or less (i.e., automation, computers, audiovisual) but still require property accountability.

Requisition, receive, store, issue, inventory, and account for supplies requisitioned through the Army Supply System.

Conduct a 10% monthly inventory and a 100% annual physical inventory of all government property.

 

Term of Employment: 11 Month Employee

 

Salary Range: Base pay will be set according to amount of retirement pay and pay set by Cadet Command

 

Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of one time per year
